DEFRA has announced the temporary closure of the main capital grant offer, attributing ever increasing demand over the last couple of years as the driver. We are told that contact will be made in early 2025 regarding what happens next.
Reassurance has been given that a budget of £5billion has been allocated for farming and environment over the next couple of years.
If you have an existing agreement, it is important to note that payments for those will continue as usual – this change only effects new applications.
Whilst 76 grant items are now on hold for new applications, you will still be able to apply for the following:
Woodland Tree Health grants, which help protect tree health against devastating plant pests and diseases.
Capital grant plans and management plans are important to help support the development of new CS Higher Tier agreements.
Protection and Infrastructure grants and Higher Tier capital grants, help support delivery of high value environmental benefits, such as re-wetting peat.
